Nailed Magazine conducted a series of interviews with comedians for the 2013 Bridgetown Comedy Fest in Portland, Oregon.

NAILED: Just how Jewish are you?

MOSHE KASHER: 4.

NAILED: Tell us a little bit about your memoir “Kasher in the Rye.” And can we (fingers-crossed) hope to see more of you in print?

MOSHE KASHER: My book is available on amazon. Do not buy it at Powells (it’s available there). My one goal in publishing a book was to put places like that out of business. We need more E-commerce. When you go into a place like Powells, you have to interact with the people there and the gross employees who clearly “Love books” and “Love their work.” What I want, is a hydraulic, robotic arm answering a command from a mainframe computer sliding to a corner of a square mile warehouse and grasping my book for me. I don’t know about you.

NAILED: Why is your podcast “The Champs” better than “This American Life”?

MOSHE KASHER: It’s mainly in our production and research. If there’s one thing TAL is, it’s SLOPPY. The lack of effort they put into the thing is palpable. STEP IT UP FELLAS. On the champs we have a commitment to excellence, professionalism and interviewing black people that is never seen on public radio.

NAILED: Whose shows are you looking forward to checking out at the Bridgetown Comedy festival in Portland this year?

MOSHE KASHER: My favorite comic at the festival is Me. I am really a force to behold. I’d recommend you see the other comics first because once you see me, you will rip your pass up in disgust, drive to a waterfall and leap off rather than experience the tedium that life is sure to offer after seeing a thing of such beauty. And also Gallagher.

NAILED: After Bridgetown, what do you have coming up in the next couple of months?

MOSHE KASHER: I’m trying to learn to fart through my mouth.

NAILED: When was the last time you nailed it?

MOSHE KASHER: What is it? Is it “the puss”? Because if it is, the answer is ALWAYS. I am literally always having sexual intercourse with a very attractive woman. In the last 17 years, I have never not been engaged in the act of intercourse. If “it” is performing, then the answer is NEVER. In over a decade of performing, I have never had a set that was good in anyway. I have never even had a mediocre set. Every time, without a single exception, the crowd is deathly silent as I perform. Dust blows by. Cowboys jangle their spurs as they saunter past. Death from the Ingmar Bergman movie “the Seventh sign” makes a throat cutting gesture from the back of the room. It’s hard to keep going sometimes, but the constant sex distracts me.
