BIO-Monaghan.jpg

Robert Monaghan is a Detroit native who has been shooting for 12 years. Whether trying to capture the grandeur of the city’s once mighty industrial power, or the melancholy of a long abandoned and silent mansion, his goal is to do more than just document, presenting each photo as an interpretation of the moment; vivid, often visceral, and never contrived. Monaghan distills emotion and aesthetic into each shot so the viewer will feel immersed by what he experienced as he put the camera to his eye. Monaghan believes that the streets of Detroit will continue to provide plenty of visual raw imagery for many years to come, and he will continue to capture its unique mix of history, culture, and chaos.
